Commitment is a very clear sign of leadership as leadership is not a one-time event or nice speech but it is a socially constructed process. Leading requires a commitment that does not indicate a specific course or degree but acknowledges a lifelong journey. I will do the following actions to become a continuously growing leader.
First, I will set SMART goals with detailed milestones and regular reviews. One of the key actions is, setting a weekly plan based on the year and a monthly plan. By doing so, I can have a more granular target and it allows me how much progress I have made up to date. If I fail to achieve a daily milestone, it would get harder to accomplish weekly, monthly and yearly goals. In the year of 2023, I have already started putting a weekly planner and have 15 mins review session.
In addition, I will broaden my networks outside of my department and division in order to gain a better understanding of other people. As an introverted person, I sometimes avoid network events but I indeed feel a connection with others is one of the best learning journeys. It provides different expert views and a good avenue of outside-in innovation opportunities that a leader can have. Specifically, I will attend network events at least once a month and get contact information from at least three people.
Finally, I will be more discipline in what I speak and how I behave. And, I will do deeper self-reflection and increase self-awareness.
