A leader empowers people and solves problems for the organization. Under a complex and uncertain environment, problem-solving requires assumptions, and the leader sets and goes through assumptions thoroughly. Additionally, a leader motivates teams and organisations to solve problems collectively, which requires massive trust across the organization.
To have daring leadership I will execute myself in the following.
As a first step, I will improve my emotional intelligence so that I can monitor my emotions and those of my teammates. Researchers have found that EQ and IQ work together to affect job performance. Using empathic language and the walk-the-talk principle, I will try to be an empathic leader. For practice, I will do a daily retrospective and get feedback from my colleagues during a regular one-on-one meetings.
Additionally, I will try to be myself rather than mimic someone else's style or model. While I may learn from other leaders, I must have a clear sense of my own self-awareness. The ultimate goal of my life is to become a better leader every day. Towards this goal, I will be honest with myself and confident enough to ask for help when necessary.
Again, a leader is not a know-it-all, but one who learns and sets assumptions with courage.
